  1. Pretty sure the deal there is that you can give bolood, only not in the first, lets say 6 to 12 months, after having a tattoo.  Give some blood before having your tat

  2. Yes you can but only at 12 months after your tatt. And no - tattooing does not infect your blood whatsoever. That's just a scare tactic.

    Good luck!

  3. When I donated blood last year they asked me if I had gotten a tattoo in the last year. If I had, they wouldn't of let me donate.

They make you wait just in case you got some kind of disease. They figure a year is enough time to figure out if you caught something or not. (That's the short version) lol

  4. You can still give blood, but you do have to wait a year to do so.

I got a tattoo and went to LifeSource to donate blood. On the questionaire, it asked if I had received a tattoo in the last 12 months, which I had. The nurse kindly explained to me that I couldn't donate because there was an increased chance that I could have a blood infection, such as Hepatitis. However, 12 months later I did go back and donate blood without any problems and proudly displaying my tattoos. So tell your dad that you can still donate :)

  5. you can give blood 12 months after having a tattoo

  6. if your tattoo is made by a professional with a sterile needle you will be able to save all the life's you want!

  7. There is a one year waiting period in non-regulated states...

The problem as your parents see it is that there is always a risk of acquiring something like hepatitis B or C and they are concerned for your health and safety.

Maybe let them participate in the selection of a very clean and professional studio and have them check it out for you.  We encourage that and many times the parents end up getting tattoos, too!  (This is provided you are 18.

  8. 12 to 18 months is the wait, they may test your blood but I have two tattoos and have given blood two times with no problems...

  9. You cannot give blood for 6 months after getting a tattoo. After that, you are perfectly capable of giving blood.

Contact your local Red Cross to talk to your dad about it if you are worried, but also ask him this: How many people would not be able to give blood if they had a tattoo? And also, has he considered how many people DO have tattoos?

  10. In the UK you have to leave 12 months afetr having a tattoo or piercing (it's possible this has changed to 9 months now...) but no, you can still give blood once your tattoo has healed.

  11. u bleed BUT it doenst get infected

  12. yes you can still give blood... I'm part Cherokee Indian and they always call me to give blood. It has something to do with it being a different type, or whatever, anyways I have 3 and I give blood almost every two months.

So let your father know that its okay.

  13. Heard it to. Get a tattoo and you can never give blood.
