  1. Yes. They need to run the cables and hook up the receivers and then use the receiver to align the dish and make sure everything is working properly before they leave.


  2. At the very least, they will need to come in and plug in the receiver, make sure it's set up properly, and then show you briefly how to work the remote.

    Our installation - which was pretty typical according to the installer - was about 2-3 hours.  This included positioning the dish on our roof, running a new cable down into our living room, splicing the 2nd receiver into our existing cable TV wiring for the bedroom, and finally connecting our receivers and making sure everything was working.

    It helps if you know how you want to connect the receiver to your TV(s)  For instance, I already had an HDMI cable connected to our HDTV in the living room.  This greatly cut down on the amount of fiddling the installer had to do with our entertainment center.
