When you get pulled over, and don't get a ticket, does it still go on your records?

Like does the computer or dispatch keep track of how many times you've been pulled over? Also is there a difference between getting a warning and not getting anything? Stupid question but curious.

  1. It depends.  Sometimes officers keep track of the warnings they give.  Other times there is a database kept by a government entity.  Still other times there is a record kept so the officer can prove he actually did make a stop and gave a warning, as opposed to just making up the traffic stop so it appears he's working.  In short, it depends on the jurisdiction.

There can be a difference between getting a warning and not getting anything.  If you get nothing at all, it could be because the stop was made but, upon investigation, it was discovered there was never a problem.  This can happen during stops that are not traffic-related.

  2. NO.  It does not appear on your criminal record, DMV record or any rap sheet.  However, the police agency would have some information on the traffic stop if the officer called and communicated your license plate number (to see if the vehicle was stolen) and your Drivers License (to check for warrants, etc.)

  3. This is not a stupid question but I don't believe so.

  4. nope, it does not go on your record.

  5. No record is kept unless a ticket is written.

  6. The ticket number is  the citation of which your drivers license number is applied. If there is no ticket number.. there is no record.

  7. There is record kept of when you have been pulled over.  So yes there is.

  8. on Cops, a man was pulled over 4 or 5 times that night for the same thing.  the cop didn't know til the man told him.  it was a broken tail light.

  9. years ago it did not, because there was no computers.but now they keep records of who they pull over each time ,where, & when even if you do not get a ticket.

  10. I have been given warning tickets and also verbal warning but I don't think there is a record of this unless they felt you were questionable

    or probable cause?
