are you like in an unconscious state??? because when I got sedated for surgery all I remember is getting the stuiff put in my IV and next thing I know it's over....but my surgeon and everyone said I was very talkative when they sedated me and everything ...how could I have been talking when I had no awareness of anything??? and when you actually get put to sleep are you like unconscious cuz you don't dream or anything.....and how do they get that breathing tube in your mouth when you're sleeping????

  1. It depends on if you were given a general anesthetic, which you werent if you were talking.  In addition they would not put a breating tube in.

I can almost guarntee you, your talking was not making any sense.  You may have made a statement, but your next one wouldnt make any sense with the first one.

Since you werent asleep, you were probably given versed, which has the side effect of amnesia.

  2. I'm like you. I don't seem to remember anything eitherand I've been under more than once in the last three months. As for the breathing tube they are trained to put it down your throat.

  3. It is just like how some people talk in their sleep...it was your subconscious. You may have had dreams as well, but might not remember them. I have heard stories from anesthesiologists about people sharing private, intimate details of their lives while "under" and wake up with no recollection of this...

  4. There are actually quite a number of different things they use for anesthetics.  I've had "general anesthetic" where they knock you out.  I've had something where I was awake during the entire procedure, but the anesthetic made me kind of loopy and caused memory loss, so I don't remember the procedure at all.  I've even had sodium pentathol for some dental surgery (this is also used for truth serum - had my mom take me to the doctor and drive me home, with me telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth about everything I never wanted my mom to know).

It's actually easier to get the tube in your mouth once you are unconcious - your muscles do not fight them (and less chance of damage).  Have you ever seen ER?  They have a curved tool, that has kind of a microscope like thing down the middle.  As they put it in, they curve the tool, and they can see where they are going by looking through the microscope thing.  once the tube is in, they pull the device out (it is in the center - the tube is around it).

I suspect they gave you something in the IV that made you sleepy / cooperative which also had the side effect of memory loss, and then they put the tube in and gave you general anesthetic.

  5. this is a very good question, they probably gave you something along the lines of versed which is a hypnotic that allows you to be like in an unconscious state but you are still able to listen and comply with the doctors if they need you to move positions or swallow you can etc. but you dont remember anything, as far as when you are put under for surgery that would be either light or general anesthesia and under general you are not awake or conscious at all, you are in a deep sleep, so if you were talkative they probably gave you a hypnotic or some sort of sedation that did not put you completely "under"...i hope this helps..

  6. haha me too

i had dental surgery and all i remember is the guy putting the anesthetic into me and then waking up at the end (2 hours later)

but that sleep was like missing time, it just went from one part to another lol it skipped time.. weird but nice ahha
