I gave a nice baby shower gift although I couldn't attend the shower. Now I have received a birth notice. Am I expected to give another gift? I am not close to this family and they live 1000 miles away.

  1. People who aren't the direct family typically do not give gifts for birth notices.  Those are just a way to tell everyone that the baby has arrived.  Most couples will send them out to whoever attended the shower or gave gifts.

  2. No, the birth notice is just sent to announce the baby has finally arrive, the name, and weight and such. You could send a gift if you want or bring one the next time you visit but there is no obligation.

  3. I would say no a baby shower gift is enough, Plus I have never heard of a gift for birth notice

  4. No not at all, you did your part.

  5. i think its a personal choice really. they might just be letting you know they had their baby cos they think you'll be interested and happy for them. it doesnt mean they want a gift, so do what you feel is right

  6. No you don't need to send another gift at all they are suppose to send birth announcements out to everyone.
