When you go blind why do your eyes turn a light blue color? and dont just stay the same color as normal?

Some blind people have injuries or illness that takes the pigment from the iris.  Some do not. So, in people who have one, their eyes loose pigment and turn blue. In other people this does not happen becuase they do not have the same issues.
