When you go in the city do you reset the mpg?

beacause my car says 33mpg when i'm in the city its supose to be 22

  1. NO If you would buy a calculator and take total number of miles driven divide by total number of gallons you used in the same period the answer will be what you got for mileage. Using the brain you have will change your driving habits and increase the mpg's you get from each gallon.


  2. Don't reset it.  Your gauge will show you how your mileage turned out for the entire tank, and how it does in the city is part of that.

    Better still, if your display can give instant MPG - how well you're doing from one moment to the next, set it to stay there and check that from time to time.  Try to keep the number as high as it'll go.  Your mileage will improve, and your driving habits will change drastically.  Welcome to hypermiling.
