When you go on a cruise, do you go for the cruise or the ports?

When we went on our first cruise, I thought we were going to the Bahamas and taking a cruise ship to get there. When we went to Cozumel, I determined that we were going on a cruise that happened to go to Cozumel and Grand Cayman.

  1. I go for the ports.

Obviously we are never going to go to Cozumel or Belize on our own. My husband and I are big travellers, so seeing more of the world was more important than the cruise itself.

  2. It's a combination of both for us, but mainly because of the ports. We love taking cruises cause it's a good bang for the buck overall, whether you spend alot on the actual ship depends on the person. I say we go because of the ports because we won't take the same ship twice and we try not to go to the same places everytime (I mean, you can only take so much of Cozumel before you get tired of it). The other reasons I say the ports is because I'm curious to know what Belize City is like, or Grand Cayman or Montego Bay... but not too curious where I would want to fly there and stay for a week... I'm hoping to take one from Puerto Rico down to the southern Carribean, I think those might be the best... cheers.

  4. Oh come on! You know it depends on you... some people like the fact of being on a vessel... the activities aboard - the atmosphere... skeet shooting, dancing ,poker, conversations...the feeling of being out of this world in another time. Others like the ports of call discovering new people and places... you KNOW the answer: BOTH!

  5. Depends where it stops...

  6. You know what, I know people go for the ports and itinerary, but I much prefer the cruise. I've been on three cruises and the lengths were 8-night and 2 9-night cruises. The ship is your home for the period of the cruise and there is always so much to do. The ports are usually nice, but the ship is just much more enjoyable because you can do what you want and your not restrained to be back on the ship at any time, because you're already on it!

  7. I really go for both, but I lean more toward the ports. I want to see the world. :-)

  8. i like the actual cruise and the actual place i'm cruising to
