  1. It doesn't matter if you made the reservation but it does matter that the name on the travel documents match a government issued picture ID and either a certified birth certificate of a government issued passport.

  2. They will not care who made the reservation only whose name is on it. I paid for all of my children to go on a cruise with us in June. They live in several different places so I had to be sure the information I used matched the way their drivers license read. When you board the boat they will check your picture ID and your birth certificate (or passport if you have one) Then they will take a picture of you that will be on your ship's key card for future identification.

  3. You should have a passport, and that does have your name and picture.  Before (meaning before passports were required) you still needed at least a birth certificate and a government issued ID.

Once they verify that you are who you say you are (via the passport or government issued ID) then they verify that your name is on their list.  That is how the cruise lines verify you are the person who made the reservation.

  4. You should have i.d. with you for security to verify that you are the person whose name is on your ticket, before you embark the ship.

They do have lists, but your picture will be taken before you get onboard so that when you are entering or leaving the ship, you will use your stateroom card ( it will be given to you by security check-in) you will need to insert your card in a machine and the picture that is taken of you on embarkation day will show up on a screen for security to verify that it is you.

    Enjoy your cruise:-)

  5. Yes when you book the cruise, the cruiseline will mail you the documentation, like you embarkation tickets, luggage tags, etc`.  When you board, they will check your embarkation documents and match it with your photo ID to know that it's you.

  6. You have a travel document that you will get from the cruiseline, or your travel agent.  And you will need a passport, or photo ID to prove who YOU are.  Yes - they do have a list of your names if you are meeting the cruise line at an airport and being transferred to the dock on their shuttle.
