When you go through an intersection with a yellow light...?

Do you have any superstitious rituals you perform such as touching the roof of your car or crossing yourself? Do you think this momentary distraction could actually increase your chance of being in a car accident?

  1. First, yellow lights are a warning that a red one comes next. When people race yellows, this is when accidents happen. They were designed only to clear the intersection and in some places, running a yellow is the same as running a red. I would suggest paying attention to the intersection, not to superstitions.

  2. There should be nothing unsafe or illegal about going through a yellow light, provided that it's only because you don't have the necessary reasonable distance to stop for the red, and that you're not speeding up just to try to beat the light.

  3. No, depending on the situation and how busy the intersection is. If I'm approaching a busy intersection and I see a car sitting in the middle of the intersection waiting to turn I will normally stop. There are some idiots that will speed on through the intersection but I want do that because I've seen a lot of accidents happen that way. If its not a busy intersection I will speed up a little bit to make the light.

  4. No, I just step on the gas pedal harder

  5. No I don't have any rituals I go thru when going thru a yellow light....but gosh I sure try not to do it very often, especially now since they have those traffic cameras & you never know when they will catch you.  oh...yes, I also think any sort of distraction while driving increases your chances of having an accident.

  6. No, I don't think it's going to matter. I actually totalled a car when I went through a yellow light once. I was getting on the interstate turning left when the car coming from the other way was turning on a yellow light as well. I now am more careful.

  7. When it happens, I just keep looking and hope for the best.
