When you go to a resturant or a dinner party,????????????

is there a time limit when your main meal should arrive,lets say i,ve ordered my starter and main meal,how long after i,ve finished the starter is a reasonable time to wait for the main course,is there a set time or do you just wait till it comes,at some restaurants i,ve waited an hour,and by the time its arrived your not that bothered about it anymore.

depends on the type of restaurant, faster food style places want you in and out as fast as possible so that they can get your table again, more upper class places will allow time for each course to digest, whilst your next course is being prepared, an hour is quite long though!

I would say if your dining for two people then the starter should be 10 minutes after your ordered and the main 15-20 mins after you finished your starter.

Some restraunts bring the main out to quickly some times which i hate as well, its like there trying to rush you out.

hi, I think it's better you feel free and if you need to have your meal sooner just tell them ... if it's possible .cause some people like to enjoy the atmosphere of restaurants  and may they just wanna let you enjoy.

A good restaurant will take your orders and bring the food to your table within 20 mins. anything over that is way too long.

I'm a chef in a restaurant and we don't let the starters go out unless the main course is in the oven ready to go when the starters are finished. When the wait staff call the table away we finish of the main and send it in about 5 mins, 10 tops.

If you are at a dinner party, there is no time limit - you're just grateful to your hosts. Accept that they are not professionals and enjoy the company of your dinner companions.
