  1. Not from Jersey but in tennessee all I had to do was walk up to the window, show them my insurance card, and the lady said "next", stamped my paper and that was it.

  2. They can call and verify if they want to.  It depends.  Sometimes it goes to a judge and sometimes a clerk does it if the judges are busy.

  3. Well... In Ohio... if you fail to show insurance... (but lets say you have insurance...) you will get sent a letter from the bmv that you MUST respond to (failure is auto suspension) you have to send them a copy of your insurance card.. (that shows you were covered at the time).. and that will be that... if you dont respond.. or dont have the insurance.. In ohio you must.. send them your drivers license.. AND your license plates. (failure to do that will result in extra fines /non compliance fees)

Going to court in ohio for failure to show proof of insurance

hmm dont know about that... but if you go to the court... its because you were driving on a suspended license (suspended for non compliance or no proof) you get a judge trial for that... and its a possible 1 year in jail and lots of fines.

at least in ohio.. some of the judges are really ultra uber biased.

I went to court for driving under a suspended license... they gave me 3 years probation..(thats after the dropped it down to a driving without permit) like 1k in court costs and fines all together.. not to mention the mandatory 3 mo suspension. and I couldnt even get work privileges..first offense mind you.

with 15 days suspended sentence. (if I broke probation. auto jail of 15 days.. plus whatever the offense was)

I saw someone in there that was her 3rd dui. she had a reckless op(thats an auto suspension in ohio) speeding.. and failure to yield to a stop sign... she got like 3 days suspended... 1 year probation and a 500 dollar fine. arrrrgh. oh.. and work priveleges...

    but maybe Im just jaded.
