How do you hide the power chord and cable chord (although i know you can get cable drilled directly behind the tv), but i want to get a little wall mount thing that i can put my xbox and cable box on. So my question is do you hid the wires with some kind of wire hiding tube that you can paint the color of your wall? Any ideas?

  1. you hide them in the wall and then you put a small stand below the tv where your x box, dvd, surround, ext sits

  2. Wall mounting is nice but limiting and personally kind of annoying. I recommend finding a stand that elevates the TV as though wall mounted and still swivels for viewing pleasure. Plus this will allow you to still move the funiture around if need be without holes in the wall.

  3. The installs that you see with hidden wires were done by a licensed installer, to code in a appealing way.

This is not a DIY task as stated by other posters can be DANGEROUS if not done properly and to your local building codes.

There are other solutions, including a stand rack mount,etc.. for a DIY to attempt. Other than that consult a good home theater installer, perhaps find out who did the ones you are seeing and ask for a referral.

  4. You can hide the wires in the wall. If you don't know how you can hire someone to do it. Also places like Home Depot and Lowes carry tubes or channels that can be used to hide wires and can be painted the same color as the wall. Not exactly invisible but a lot better than a lot of wires hanging out.

  5. First off, you can NOT run a power cord inside a wall.  It is an electrical code violation.  These jack @sses who posted before me obviously know nothing.  You can have an outlet installed at the location of the panel and the panel and mount will cover the outlet.

As far as hiding the signal cables, you can install those in the wall as long as they are rated for in-wall use.  To do this, all you need is a couple of old work mud rings and a nice termination plate.

Check this out for low voltage brackets:

Look at the following for cables that are in-wall rated:

    monoprice.com

    cablesnbulbs.com

  6. Wire management is always an issue and a cause of many problems down the road after the system is installed. (not to mention how it looks and dealing with the wife after you duct tape wiring all along her floor and under her rugs.)

Take a look at these links for cable management ideas. Basically its a system of plastic channel or conduit that will hide and organize your cable runs. The other option is to fish the wire through the wall. Depending on your room and comfort level on this type install it can get quite involved.
