I just got a cast today on my leg to help give my ankle a rest. I have tendonitis. I can move my leg and ankle. If it wasnt tight around my ankle I could probably move my leg all the way out of the cast. Am I suppose to be able to move my leg around in the cast??

I have sent an email to my doctor, I just wanted to see what you thought because this is my first time with a cast. Thanks!!

  1. As a matter of fact, I just had my first cast taken off my wrist this week.

While in it, I was able to wiggle my arm a little, but it hurt too much to REALLY damage any thing.

Don't push it.  Just let your leg sit quietly in that cast.  You're trying to get the tendons to repair themselves.

Rule of thumb:  If it hurts, stop doing it and rest.  Let pain be your guide.

  2. i dont think its too much of a problem, just try not to move it too much.

the purpose is too rest, not too place broken bones, so you should be fine. relax and give it time. =)

  3. no but also its not meant to make your foot fall off
