Question:

When you have endometriosis, is it best to try for a baby earlier in life?

I've thoroughly researched endometriosis, and I believe I may have the condition.

I've schedualed an appointment with my OB/GYN for this Wednesday,

but I'm fairly sure that I have the condition as I exhibit almost all of the tell tale symptoms.

I know that pregnancy is near impossible when you have this disease,

but being a mother has been my goal in life since I myself, was a child. The thought of never bearing children of my own is so heartbreaking it brings me to tears.

I'm young, in my early twenties, married and have been trying to conceive for almost a year.

Is there hope for us? Is it possible to conceive despite endometriosis?

And if so, is it easier to do so earlier in life,

at my age?

Any input is appreciated.

Thank you.

  1. Been there, done that. I think that it would be better to go ahead and get it over with because, the endometriosis only gets worst.  I had to have my bowels untwisted and lining scraped and still had trouble getting pregnant. But there is hope- so don't give up trying. I had a co-worker who finally had to have invitro.

  2. That's what I did. And yes. There are some cons though. If you space them out too much, it gets harder coz you scar so much, but if you have one right after the other, you are still "healing" all the time.... But I had mine, FOUR, to be precise. Despite a tilted uterus and other bad odds.

  3. i have the same condition. i am 21 and was pregnant in march but miscarried in june and we are trying again now. my doctor said we could concieve again.  best of luck to u.

  4. I know how u feel. I am 26 years old & am being tested right now for endo.. finally went to see the gyno almost 2 weeks ago. She did a pap test (even tho my own doctor recently did one and everything came back normal) and ever since the gyno did it, I've been cramping constantly so now i'm trying to figure out what that's from! (have never cramped before after a routine pap!)

Anyway, nothing has ever happened in the past 5 months for my bf and i.. so it makes me wonder as well if it has anything to do with the endo. But then again, it is said that it can take up to a year to conceive even for a healthy person! So, who knows..

The thing is, u never know.. so don't worry yourself too much.. stress can really have an affect on you as well.

Take care & all the best :)

  5. I know two people who have endometriosis.  Both opted for families a little early (married and in the mid 20's).  Both were able to get pregnant, one has three children, the other is pregnant for the first time.  Good luck to you in the future.

  6. I believe that it is definately best to try and get pregnant young. My husband has a female friend who has endometriosis. She found out when she was 16, and it has been severe since. She is now 28, and has been TTC for 3 years. She has had a miscarriage (which she didn't know she was pregnant until she miscarried), but she saw that as a positive sign, becasue it means she can infact get pregnant again!!!

    Good Luck to you

  7. I found out i had endometriosis when i was 19 years old by the doctor doing a laproscopy on me. I then went to another doctor who done the surgery on me to remove it. He burnt all the implants out. I got pregnant when i was 21 years old.  It took me 11 months to get pregnant but i believe it took that long because i had been on the depo shot for 4 years prior to that.

I know the endo had came back, pregnancy is no cure, surgery isn't either. I am hurting just like i did before but i have not been back to the doctor about it. I am now 28 years old. I did get pregnant in 2005 but miscarried at 5 weeks. I have not tried to get pregnant at all.

It does not keep you from getting pregnant it may just make it harder too.

  8. Definitely ask your doctor what he/she recommends. There are varying degrees of endo, and procedures that can help lessen its effects. Tell your doctor what your goals are, and then set out a treatment plan that will help you acheive your goals.

And don't worry about something that you're not sure of yet- you could be wrong. Self-diagnosis is a dangerous thing!
