  1. doesnt have to be right on, i was almost 14 weeks when i had mine

  2. Hon,

I was just given a routine U/S at 12 weeks where we looked at our fetus and the doctor claimed me to be out of danger zone. The real deal was around 19 weeks when we knew the s*x of the baby and when they measured the baby like his head circumference, stomach.location of your placenta, Blood flow in heart and insertion of umblical cord into fetus and stuff like that. The AFP for me was on week 16 and its just a blood test. After you get the report of detailed u/s you can be good to go.

I hope you and the baby are great.Best of luck

  3. Any scans before 20th week was just the routine scan (check heart beat, baby's length, or even the gender at wk 16). Week 20 will be the detailed scan to check the abnormalities & the scan is usually longer than the ones taken earlier. This was in Singapore.

  4. It can be a couple of days before or after 12 weeks!

  5. no not really but it's best for the baby cz the way u have a better clear view of what ur baby looks like but like the other lady said it could be a couple of days earlier but my opinion is that is better if you just wait...

  6. I had a "20 weeks scan" to check for abnormalities... I was closer to 21 weeks though

Oh you mean the triple test? Um... I think you can be a bit off but it should be as close as possible. Just ask when you book it in they'll tell you whether you ok to have it then

  7. As far as i'm aware here the scans for all that was between 18 to 20 weeks.. I think i had mine just on 18 weeks. But no, it definatly does not have to be exact, as that would be very difficult to do.

  8. I had mine at 12 weeks 4 days. It's anytime from 11 weeks to 13 weeks, to get the best result.

That test (the nuchal translucency screening) doesn't seem to be as common in the US as it is elsewhere (like here in Australia). Most places seem to focus on the 19-20 week fetal anatomy scan, which is what other people here are referring to.

  9. We were told that it was best to do that ultrasound around 18-20 weeks because the child would be bigger and more visible.

I'm sure that if you're doctor is recommending it at 12 weeks it's for a good reason though.

I'm also sure that a couple of days won't really matter since length of gestation is really just a 'guesstimate' anyway based on your LMP, not your actual ovulation or conception date.

    Good luck!
