There are many sources of renewable energy, and I am partial to one kind because I work in the industry(I won't say which one until I pick best answer-because I don't want to alter the results, but I was wondering what type comes to mind first for most.

Thanks for your answers.

  1. I'm totally for solar power. I live in Arizona and I wish we harnessed it more than we already do. Even in less sunny places it can be used to off-set other forms of power (like coal, ew!)

  2. Hydroelectric comes to my mind as it is Canada's main renewable energy. We have been using it since the first world war in large quantities.

We have a finite ability to increase this source of energy, so it may not be the hot button of the day. But because it provides well for base load, is always there, we depend on it in ways that no other renewable energy has yet been able to match.

  3. Wind is the first thing that came to my mind when I read this.  Although, solar power is probably a close second.  Oh, and I really like the concept of capturing gasses from already existing landfills, although I don't know how practical it turns out to be.

I don't really think of hydroelectric as renewable because of the environmental damage dams cause - but I guess it is renewable, just not very 'green'.

  4. wind, solar,etc.

  5. Wind was the first. Oddly, because we don't have allot where we live. But we have plenty o' sunshine:)

  6. I think of wind power, I would love a small wind turbine at my place.

  7. wind.

    i live near altamont pass.

  8. the last few months, tidal stream turbines, because the first commercial one just started generating in northern Ireland, hooray! i got so excited, i did a wiki edit for the first time, added it onto the harland and wolff page.

  9. "Renewable" is such a clever buzz given by the corporate media spinsters. How about "Responsible" instead?

    Wind. Solar.

  10. I think of solar. I live in a sunny location with little wind. I also get some of my power from hydorelectric, but I think we have tapped most of those resources already. I also live not far from a geothermal plant that was previously shut down and has recently been reopened and is generating electriciy again.

  11. Solar energy, and solar water heater
