  2. You don't join the Freemasons. You become one.

  3. Typically you are given an apron, either when you become an EA, or after you are raised as a MM.

    There are degree fees as well as annual dues, but they are pretty minimal, typically less than $200 for the degree fees and first year dues, and then around $35 per year thereafter.

    Regarding rings, typically you will buy your own. It used to be that some Scottish Rite bodies would give you a ring at the 14th, but not many do that anymore; some Lodges used to have jewelers has members who would give you a ring, but that is a local thing... also, you do not have to wear a ring.

  4. I couldn't tell you about the apron but I am related to two Masons (both deceased) - one by marriage and one by birth - and I was told by relatives that both paid for their rings.  However, this is second hand information so it is fully possible it is not accurate.
