  1. All military contracts are 8 year contracts. If you enlist in the Marine Corps you'll sign one of the three contracts:

4x4: 4 yrs active duty followed by 4 years of Inactive Readiness Reserves (IRR)

6x2: 6 yrs of active duty followed by 2 yrs of IRR

6x2: 6 yrs of reserve duty followed by 2 yrs of IRR

  2. It would depend on your MOS. The longer your school, the longer your contract. I initially enlisted for 6 yrs active and 2 inactive reserve (always obligated to 8 yrs upon entry). I don't think that length is an option any more, but last time I knew they had five and four year enlistments to active and the remainding years in the inactive reserves (where you can be recalled to active duty). There is no differentiation between the genders in the Marines when you sign for your term of enlistment.

  3. lol for life

  4. any enlistment is always for a period of 8 years for any US MIlitary Branch. Now it can be divided into 4 yrs active/4yrs reserve. But even in those remaining 4 yrs years you can still be recalled for active duty service if needed. or you can do 8 years reserve, but don't expect to stay home. In certain case, they may offer you a two year-3yr enlistment period. And they also have program called NCS-national call to service. where you serve for 15 months active duty following  camp+Job Training

  5. You negotiate that when you sign up.

  6. minimum service for men :4 years

minimum service for girls i belive is :3 years

  7. You enlist for however long the contract you sign states... but you're a Devil Dog for life.

  8. 4 years. you can be "drafted" at any time to rejoin the service if the country is in dire need. **** life

  9. my husband joined the navy and he's doing 4 years active & 4 years reserve.

i also have a friend that joined the marines and he is doing the same, im pretty sure thats the only option they have. good luck & congrats for considering it!!! :)
