  1. Well, it depends. If you drive a manual gear shift (stick) obviously there's a bit more to master than if you learn to drive an automatic. It's all about co-ordination and observation. Some people get the hang of it really quickly, others never really manage (my boss has failed her driving test 23 times. I got mine first time). You do need to build up a lot of experience though. You might be able to handle a car and carry out all the manouvers in a parking lot, but that's very different to driving in heavy traffic in a town or on the freeway. Always be alert to what is going on around you, never drive faster than the conditions allow, and get a really good driving instructor at first - don't rely on friends/family to teach you as they will have bad habits that they will pass on to you. Always remember, more people are killed by cars than by guns every year - treat driving with respect.

And its not all bad, once you get the hang of it, taking your first roadtrip is the best feeling in the world! Enjoy!

  2. i think its the pressure of whoevers in the car that makes it hard

my drivers ed teacher constantly yelled at me and made me do so much worse, but when i drive with my mom (who has learned to keep her mouth shut) i drive with no problem at all

  3. Yes, its like driving a large go cart....

  4. It depends who is teaching. But regardless, practice and a desire is key.

  5. Learning the mechanics of driving like turning the wheel and stepping on the pedals is pretty easy. Driving only takes 5 to 10 pct physical effort, but it demands 100 pct mental involvement. The real kicker is that driving is sooo BORING no matter what the commercials say. It is so monotonous, it can and will put you to sleep.

Solution: be prepared. Study the driver's handbook, know the rules. When you ride with somebody, pretend it is you behind the wheel. What's the speed limit? Should I stop for this light that's changing? There's a pedestrian, a school bus with lights flashing. What do I do? There's a fire truck behind me with siren and lights. What do I do?

We have to be involved with driving and be aware of our surroundings. No distractions. Turn the cell off, make sure everybody is buckled in, know where you're going and how you're going to get there. Keep your eyes moving. Don't take anything for granted.

    All the best.

  6. Yes it is very easy, especially once you get some experience under your belt.

Just take it easy when you're starting out, and make sure to follow the rules of the road.

  7. It's hard at first, but gets easier with a lot of practice and experience behind the wheel.

  8. I thought it was.

  9. I had a terrible time until my uncle gave me this advice: when you look out the windshield, look down the road like you're walking down the road. It really helps you steer properly. Also, take some time to learn some basic physics, such as an object in motion tends to stay in motion. You will understand the importance of seat belts, breaking, etc much better if you understand the laws of motion.

  10. only for smart people who know how to pay attention to all surroundings. make sure you watch for kids chasing balls & dummies who cant drive. we have enough of those on the road
