  1. Thier medical begins the day you leave.  In Zero week, you will fill out everything that is needed for your family to get thier ID's.  Only your spouse and children over the age of 10 will receive ID's.  You will mail her a packet of info that she can then take to her closest base to get her ID.  She has to take certain info with her and there is a checklist in the packet you send her.  Shouldn't take more than 2 weeks.  I had mine 4 days after my hubby left for basic.

  2. they become eligible for medical they day you leave. i'm not to sure about the i'd cards b/c unless you live next to a base they don't exactly need them yet. like my closest base is 2 hours away so  i don't know if they are going to make me and my husband drive there to get his done before i go. or if they want him to do it by himself once i get to basic....  i don't htink you get your id card until you get to basic anyway
