  1. Lots of retroactive, revisionism going on there.

Fact is, very little was known about all of the false gods you mention.

Alleged "scholars" filled in the blanks ... long after Christianity was firmly established ... based purely on their own theories and speculation.

Moral of the story ... Don't believe everything you read.

  2. uhh, yeah a little bit! omg that is so strange! well maybe those are different records of history or something...idk..

  3. So, how many right answers can there be. Only one of what you list can be the real deal. Did any of these people die to save people from sin and eternal death? If any of what you list are for real, where are their Church's=places of worship? Are you 100% sure that they pre date Christianity?  If so, how?  I can make up a fictitious god, give him/her a name. date of birth, say he/she preformed miracles, died for others,  say it pre-dates Christianity, etc. etc. Does that make it true?

I think there can be only one that is real. You say you can list 34 others. So, of what you list and 33 of the others are false. There can be only one right answer and one right deity. They are all just that--false.  Want to read some actual ancient records? The Dead Sea Scrolls were found in the 40s and found to be authentic These scrolls have been on display at one time or another.  What do they show?  Christianity is for real.

  4. hehe.

Christians hate it when people quote that movie.

  5. Satan knew the story long before we did and set up many false paths and idols.

Christ is still the only one who has proven to have lived historically and is the only one who actually died for your sins.

  6. Not all of your information is correct. But much of Jesus's Teachings were deleated or altered by the church before it was ever given to the followers of the church. And 12 and 7 come up allot in regards to Spirituality. 12 divisions of consciousness, 12 divisions of the body, 12 regions of space, it is the number for attainment. 7 chakras. 7 major gladular centers, 7 levels of consciousness.

  7. Anyone that doesn't see a correlation really needs a good beating upside the head.  As Thomas Jefferson puts it:

"The religion of one era is the literary entertainment of the next"

  8. No, not to me

  9. Thanks! Great way to put it.

  10. Generally speaking, yes I do. But I don't think it was a simple case of straight borrowing either.

Also there are inaccuracies in your list there. Horus wasn't crucified. His father Osiris, on the other hand, was torn into 14 pieces. Osiris was known as "prince of princes", etc. A lot of "information web sites" confuse the 2. Many of them have simply borrowed from Zeitgeist or other inaccurate sources without actually following through on the research. You might be interested in reading the Egyptian book of the dead, for example.

Attis was also not crucified. Attis died through castrating himself. He was born, however, not through "normal means".

Mithra is often believed to be very similar to Jesus. But I have to admit I need to do more research on that one myself.

    And so on...

  11. So where did you cut and paste this from?

  12. You are in good company.  The vast majority of secular highly respected university professors in religious studies would agree.

Try reading something by Bart Ehrman, PhD at the U of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.  His lectures are all on YouTube as well.

I spent a week long seminar sponsored by the Biblical Arhaeology Society (secular archaeologists) just listening to him.  Fascinating guy.  Has published many books, but if you can see his lectures, you'll really find he makes a great deal of sense.

  13. Christianity is false it was a myth that evolved from these civilizations

the pageans had similar beliefs as well

  14. yepp

thats y i aint christain tho

and i think any christian that sees this answer, honestly, will totally overlook it cuz thats what they believe

    but ya definiftely borrowed

  15. Yes.

  16. yeah, but all in all, I prefer Persephone.  At least she has the good sense to bring spring with her whenever she comes back from the other side.

  17. Hey Laura try this site Your comment on Krishna is wrong. Go to this site for confirmation. Its scientificaly proven.

  18. It does seem so, especially for the dirty minded and the malicious, the same way your nosy neighbor sees you and declare you look just like the children of a couple who lives nextdoor to your parent's house.  How do you explain the similarity is only superficial? The worst part is when you vehemently deny and they say, "Aw, come on, don't be too defensive.  It's alright to be unfaithful sometimes!"

  19. Well seeing as:

    1. Jesus wasn't born on December 25, he was actually born in March. The calendars back then and the Julian calendars are very off.

    2. Jesus is the only person to be resurrected other than Lazarus, who was brought back to life by Jesus himself.

    3. False deities are going to be known as "king of kings" in their cultures.

    4. Isaiah prophesied Jesus' birth and death well before it happened (look in Isaiah 52)

    I'm gonna say no.

Oh, and Dionysus was not born of a virgin. Seleme (spelling?) had s*x w/ Zeus. And then she was killed. The others were also not born of a virgin. There is no proof whatsoever of them being born of one. Horus was born of Isis who was the husband of Osiris, and therefore was not a virign.

  20. Yeah it does seem a little fishy, I just hope they don't totally write it off as fake or not relevant.

  21. Jesus is NO BORROWED 'IDEA'.

If you read Proverbs Ch.8 - you will find that Jesus was the first of all creation - created by God himself and he existed before anything else existed. So the existence of Jesus is from time long ago that cannot be counted by humans.  The other so called gods do not exist and are just duplicates trying to imitate Jesus.

  22. Ha Ha, I am afraid I have seen this same list. It is innacurate and misleading.

And all Christians know Christ was NOT born on December 25th. There WAS no December in the BC world, that fact alone should have tipped you off to the silliness of this list.

Now, I have seen many attempts to equate many religions to others. Almost all of them have been bogus. There are only so many things in the world to worship. Oh look, many religions have a virgin in them, or the sun, or a tree. Wow, they all must be copies of each other.

Anyway, we are all taken by these things from time to time, me included, so don't feel bad.

Thanks for replying - No, I am afraid 40 some odd "gods" did NOT all have the same birthday. Even if they did, we know that Jesus WAS NOT born on that day, so the point is established either way. It is also a little silly to point out the obvious attributes of a "god" as being the same among them all. For example, "performed miracles" - duh. So Dionysus could perform miracles. Didn't ALL the greek and roman Gods do that? You might as well point out that they all had two feet.

Shade:  The Bible does NOT claim the world is 10,000 years old. That is only one very bad misinterpretation by one denomination, that the critics you have obviously read, like to misquote.

  23. Let me think about that for a minute...
