When you lose your eye sight,why do your eyes chnage color?

When someone loses their eye sight/goes blind,how && why do their eyes change color(like a grey-ish color)?

The grayish color is caused by cataracts.  People can develop cloudiness or fluid buildup in their eyes which looks to others like a color change.  Eventually a person with cataracts will go blind if they are not treated.

There are other ways for people to go blind that do not cause their eyes to turn grey.
