    B and C refer directly to genes, which you can't see by looking at someone directly.  The output of the genes is the phenotype (A) and often be physically observed.  Eye color, skin color, hair color, earlobe shape, etc. are all phenotypic traits.  In this context, I'm not sure to what hybridization is referring, but I'm sure it is A.
