Do they purposly make them sound loud?

Why do some cans today sound diffrent between brands?

Is it because the aluminum is diff. between then and now or are the cans made thinner today then years ago?

  1. Your hearing is more sensitive. I can't hear any difference.

  2. It's about the mixture of gasses inside the can.

  3. The only things that cause the sound when you open a can of beer is the amount of carbonation and the way you open the can.  When you pop the top, you break the pressure seal, letting the pressurized carbon dioxide in the beverage escape.  (This is why when you shake the can then open it, you get a mini-Mount Vesuvius...it's under pressure and you're just adding more when you shake it up.)  As far as the way you open the can, it's hard to open them the exact same way twice.  When the mouth is cut, it's giving point may be smaller, larger, or placed differently than the can before it on the production line.  That can't be helped.

The variations between the volume level of different brands and types of beer is just that: they're different.  The sound of a lager (a highly carbonated light beer) and a dark ale (not as carbonated and much denser) will be slightly different.  The ale will be quieter because there is not as much carbonation being let out when you open the can.  Different companies use different levels of carbonation per their own recipes, so it will vary slightly when you have different brands.

The density of the aluminum might have changed over the years, but that would only effect resonance (which, with the can being full of liquid, dampers most of it anyway).  If the density did change, it would be so little that it would not be noticeable.

    Hope some of this helped!
