  1. In every game of Monopoly I have ever player where I was the banker, I got booted for embezzlement!  "how did you get all that money." They would ask, "You have no property!"  I never knew what to say... so they kicked me out of the game.

  2. that is a house rule... meaning the person who lives at the place the game is taking place gets to decide... at my house we like to put five hundred initially and then all the taxes and fines also... makes for a fun game

  3. I play where any bills such as pay doctors fees, income tax etc goes in the middle and the person who lands on free parking wins what ever amount is there

  4. Yep.  Any money that players have to pay as a result of Income Tax or Community Chest/Chance cards is placed in the center to be collected by the lucky player who lands on 'Free Parking' space.

It's not in the rules, but hey, it makes it more interesting!

  5. No, according to the rules, you do not put any money on Free Parking. These kind of play are called house rules, where people within that house play with their desired set of rules. But if you want to be straight forward and strictly obeying to Monopoly, then you never put any excess money, whether in the forms of taxes, or just a starting 500bill. Whenever I play, im fine with the rules, as long as they are not outrageous.

  6. its say's not 2 but we always put money in free parking cuz its funer 2 play

  7. in the older versions of the game, Free Parking was a place for money collected from Luxury Tax, Chance, & Community Chest.  the newest version states that Free Parking is just as its named.

  8. yup 500 in the middle and taxes go in the middle 2

  9. only money from chance and community chest, not from income or luxury tax.

  10. I like to sit between the two extremes.  Instead of loading up Free Parking everytime someone lands on it, I favor starting with a modest $200 in the middle and not replenishing after someone collects it.  It's a nice one-time perk for one lucky player - then it's back to the rule book.

  11. When we play, all of our taxes and extras that we have to pay goes directly into the center. We also put one 500 dollar bill in the center to start it off. It gives you more incentive to hit Free Parking I assume. It does say to do this in the official rules. My friend is a stickler on rules, so it has to be in the book somewhere. I know it tells this in the original Monopoly, dunno about some of the newer ones.

  12. According to the rules, no.  I have found that it's sort of a local preference type of thing though.  Some people do and some people don't.  A lot of people I have played with put $500 in FP to start the game.  Some people add $500 to FP each time someone lands on that space and gets the money that's in there.  We always play that any taxes or fees you have to pay go into FP.

  13. Absolutely not! The players are already averaging $34 earned per turn giving someone $500+ for alucky roll insures the game will never end! Try this official variant instead: http://www.hasbro.com/common/instruct/St...

  14. Sometimes it fun collection it when it you

  15. Greetings!  I used to play that way a lot, but since I got into the game in a very serious way, I went back to the traditional method without money.  I'm hoping someday to find a local tournament that could get me moving toward the major tournaments.

My house rules when playing is no, but I have no issue if I were to play somewhere else and they put money in the middle for Free Parking.

My only advice is to make sure all "house rules" are clearly understood before anyone rolls the dice for anything.

    Hope that helps.  Take care.

Hey, I can dream big, right?
