When you put a soda and a diet soda into a water tank, how come the diet one only floats?

i am going a projet and i need to know all the possibities of why and what causes it to float and the difference between them.

  1. The average can of soda contains about 16 tsp of sugar whereas the diet soda contains only a very small amout of sweetener (aspartame, sucralose, saccharin, etc.) The large amount of sugar in regular coke makes the density greater than that of water, so the regular coke can sinks.
