  1. When a body is hot, its energy level is high and when a body is cold, its energy level is low thus when this two bodies are placed in proximity, energy transfer takes place from the higher to the lower until there is equilibrium.

  2. the ice absorbs heat from the drink.  the melting of the ice uses the the heat in the process of melting.  So the drink loses heat while the ice absorbs it and melts.

  3. Easy. Ice is cold- the drink is fairly warm. Heat flows from the heat source, or the drink, to the heat sink, or the ice, thus pulling heat away from the drink, cooling it down.

Then, the ice heats up from the heat source of the drink, and reaches its dewpoint. When dewpoint is reached, it begins to turn back into liquid form. (ice to water) So the ice melts.

  4. Ice cool down the drink by absorbing the heat in the drink. After ice melts, it absorbs as much heat energy through the heat fusion as it would take to heat an equivalent mass of drink.

  5. Even when ice and water are having same temperature the ice will have more heat than water. It has got latent heat added in it. The latent heat is the heat reqired to change the status of the mass without changing its temperature. Therefore the ice will loose its latent heat and gets melted but will maintain its temperature.

  6. when you put ice in a cup of water, the coldness release its energy causing it to be ecold and it melts because when the energy i calll it energy is all released its gone
