When you quote people...?

when you quote people do you put periods at the end of " or before "

For example "he walked my dog."

or "he walked my dog".

what are the rules for this?

  8. It depends on what type of citation style you plan to use. There is APA, MLA and Chicago style, those are the ones that I know of.   9. If a quote comprises a whole sentence, the full stop should come before the closing quote. If the quote is part of a sentence, the full stop comes after the closing quote.
