  1. It will take a long time.  Sorry.  It's 'cause of all the people.  OK!

  2. It depends on the song and the genre. If you are requesting a song that a thousand other people are requesting, you should hear it soon. That said, if you reqeust a song that NO one is requesting, don't expect to hear it anytime soon.

  3. well, the djs usually have tons of music queued up beforehand. i requested a song once and it took about three hours, ahaha. it could probably take anywhere from about 10 minutes to... well, three hours.

  4. They only take your call when they want a song request. It's probable that you won't even get through.

  5. i've given up trying to request a song, the few times i did it never got played

  6. Don't know.  All I know is that I have requested songs on the radio and they never played my song.  : (

  7. Usually in major markets (Big cities) there is no real requests but a lot of times all you are doing is polling to see how many want to hear a song more often... It will normally be played once or twice in that night depending upon how busy the night is and such as announces the shoutouts and dedications from there.

Smaller cities, I've heard a 15 minute turn around... but more often than not the Dj is allowed a few places to play other songs and will squeeze it in there

  8. John C's got it. In an all request show - as long as it's on the playlist it will come up during the show. If it's an odd request, maybe : maybe not.

    -a guy named duh

  9. Expect up to multiple hours.

  10. Having worked in radio, I can tell you that a song playlist is generated by the music department for the announcer to play on-air.  The DJ actually has very little say on what gets played.  The exception would be a request-show or if the music picked for the hour does not fill the complete hour.  In that case, it's up to DJ to pick an extra song or two to fill the hour.

  11. Ugh... this is just ridiculous.  They'll play it when they want to.  There aren't any rules that state a radio station has to play a song within a certain amount of time.  Sometimes, they won't even play your request at all.  Oh noes!

  12. Depends on how far ahead they are with their programming.  many times radi stations are programmed an hour or two ahead of time except for during Ruch hour.

  13. Basically a DJ gets a bunch of requests each nite. Usually, a lot of them are already on the playlist for the nite so there is no problem there. However, sometimes a song is an oldie or not a regular and he can only play so many of them each hour. They have almost every minute planned with commercials and the playlists. So, bottom line, hang on, it could be a while unless you requested the hottest song on radio today.

  14. well proably forever. One time i requested this song on the radio and i listened for like 3 hours but it was never played but hey there wads good music on that night anyway

  15. one time i requested a song and it took about 3 or 4 hours before i heard it. it was crazy.

  16. totally depends on how many people are calling in. Try and call early and see if you can request your songs now, so they'll be the first ones to play. They might be cool about it.
