If I wanted to say master steve in japanese would the japanese word for master come before or after steve?

  1. not sama but shishou or oyakata

    just 'shishou' or 'steve shishou'

    just 'oyakata' or 'steve oyakata'

    shishou = instructor (karate etc), teacher (rakugo etc)

    oyakata = boss (craftsman, workman, artisan), master, foreman, stable master (sumou wrestling)


  2. Hmm, "sama" definitely does not mean Mr. or Mrs. That is "san". "Sama" is the highest of the highs. For example, God is said "kamisama".

    I think it would be appropriate for you to use sensei in that situation. Sensei does mean teacher, but it literally means "honorable master". So, many people use an entirely different word to say "teacher", to sound more modest. It would be said Steve-sensei.
