  1. It's just one of those reflex actions to be aware of when you are driving.

  2. its because when you sneeze a big amount of pressure comes out of your nose...and that pressure can affect your eyes if you don't keep them closed

  3. Otherwise the pressure from the sneeze, which is a considerable amount, would send them rolling across the floor!

    It's roughly 100 mph!!

  4. It's your body's natural protection against snot flying upwards at your eyes.

I like to call it: evolution's miracle.

Just think about all the cavemen that died out because they DIDN'T close their eyes while sneezing!

  5. The reason is that it's just a reflex. Because your body has to generate a huge rush of air to make you sneeze, everything clenches up tight to make you go atchoo!, and blow air out of all the right holes to clear the mucus. Part of that is to blow air the wrong way up your tear ducts, which is why your eyes water when you sneeze. You do s***w up all your muscles to make sure you don't hurt your eyes, so it is sort of protective. Contrary to myth your eyeballs won't pop out if you sneeze with your eyes open.

  6. It's a reflex action - it's impossible to sneeze with your eyes open.

  7. Because you have to otherwise your eyes pop out of your head.

  8. to stop your eye`s popping out

  9. I was told as a child that it was because your eyes would pop out of your head if you didn't, but I don't think that's true.

    Sorry don't know.

    Am interested to know though!

  10. Because of the velocity of your head caused by the sneeze. Watch mythbusters.

  11. I thought they popped out with the force if you didn't...might just be one of those myths though.

  12. I dont know but its impossible not to close your eyes when sneezing,

  13. so they don't shoot out of your head!

  14. Because i'm afraid they might pop out, the same reason i close my eyes when i take swimming goggles off, so they don't get sucked out....lol

  15. it is to stop your eyes shooting out of your head and hitting your cheek

  16. They wouldnt pop out of your head. Its physically impossible. Its been disproved. Watch mythbusters. There are muscles etc holding your eyes IN. A sneeze couldnt make them fall out. And if they did fall out of the socket theres a muscle attaching them to your brain.

  17. Did you know that the pressure of a sneeze actually makes your heart jump. That's why some people get dizzy when they sneeze standing up. So your reflexes automatically shut your eyes meaning you can't intentionally keep them open. It is impossible. If the power of a sneeze can make your heart jump, imagine what it would do to your eyes! They are so much closer to the pressure too.

  18. lol.. I dunno.. Why do ppl sneeze in the 1st place?
