I've started to play guitar a while ago and I get that you need to develop callouses etc. but are your fingers supposed to crack? Because the tips of mine where I press the strings down onto the frets are quite literally cracked. What can I do to like.. heal it and does every guitar players' fingers' crack????

  1. you dont say whether you are using nylon or steel .

if you are using steel string get a set of extra light's.

play for about half an hour leave it alone for a while and go back to the guitar.

short bursts are better than one long sesion untill you get youre fingers toughened.

the tips of youre fingers will harden in time dont peel the skin off if they get hard.

it wont take long for the tips of youre fingers to harden.

    enjoy

  2. Yea girl, lol that's normal.  that's just the outside layers of skin getting ready to shed because callouses are forming underneath.  Don't worry eventually they will smooth out.  To speed up the process, play until they hurt, then play some more.  Good Luck!

  3. never heard of cracking befor, but i would get some skin moisturizer and put that on before you play so your skin gets used to the strings better, my fingers never calloused, dunno why

  4. I don;t realy know sound like you need to moisturise your hands

I find my callouses peel of after awhile but they don't crack

  5. if you mean crack as in your finger gets indented and it looks like the string is still there, but without the string, then its normal. if your skins peeling, that thats bad
