Did you rush off to the hospital like you see on tv?

It's like one second there fine, then the next their like OMG im in labor, and they go straight to the hospital.

I've heard some people took a shower, and actually "got ready" to go to the hospital... how about u?

  1. I had 2 trips to the hospital before they finally said I was in labor on the 3rd trip. This time around, I just went in the night before last because my contractions were 3 mins apart and lasted at home for a little over an hour and at the hospital for 2 more hours, and they sent me home!

With my first, I had 3 days to get ready, it took my body 3 days to get into active labor, with this one, I was told not to come in until I couldn't talk/walk through the contractions, ugh.

Usually you get plenty of time to get ready, take a shower, what ever you want to do, but they do say the second child comes faster, so I'm not trying to chance it, lol.

    GL to you!

  2. I had stomach pains so I called the hospital and they said to come in when they are close apart. They told me take benadryl and lie down. So I did then I got up to take a shower and my legs were shaking because I was in so much pain. But the contractions were never close together. I would get one. Then about 15 minutes later I would get another one. Then about 5 minutes...then 20 minutes..so on lol. I decided enough was enough and I was going to the hospital. It's a good thing I was 8 centimeters when I went!!!!!!!! But I went in my pajamas with no bra...I looked horrible. But I was in to much pain to get ready lol

  3. I just gave birth this wednesday the 20th i had just got out of the bath and was laying down when i realized that i was having contraction they were 5 min and less apart but very mild so i decide to wait until they got stronger my hubby made me some hot chocolate when he handed me the cup i had another contraction and as i waited for it to pass my water broke around 5:30am i ran to the bathroom and saw i had left a trail of water and blood all i could think was i don't want to come home in two days and have to clean it up so i got the mop and moped it up then i packed my bag and the baby bag looked around to see if i was forgetting anything i left my house at 6:40am got there at 7:00am was admitted at 8:30 and had my baby at 10:11am I wasn't in any real rush after my water broke cause i knew i was on my way and my baby was very obedient since his father had to to be at work at 12:00pm but really wanted to be there for his birth i guess he accommodated his father LOL

  4. i'm one of those dorks who showered and got ready!... i checked into the hospital dilated to a 5 and 80% effaced i did not have my son till 18 hours later!!!!!!!!! FIRST TIME DELIVERY'S LAGG!!!!!!!!!!

  5. No, what you see on TV is extremely unrealistic. You are supposed to wait until your contractions are 5 minutes apart (which doesn't happen immediately) before going to the hospital unless your water breaks, then your doctor may want you to come sooner.

When I went into labor with my son, I didn't take a shower but I did pack my bag and eat a snack. My son was born about 10 hours later. I didn't (and still don't) feel a huge need to rush to the hospital...

After all, once you get there you're just going to be sitting in a hospital bed for god knows how many hours waiting. Might as well do some of the waiting at home.

  6. it takes time you get cleaned up and get packed all that good stuff. you wait until you are in active labor before you go

  7. what happens on tv is nothing like it!

I had painful contractions at home for 4 days before the hospital would believe i was in labout. I kept going and getting sent home. they finally believed me when i went in crying and barely able to walk! by that time i was 6cm ( you only need to be 10 to deliver).

I had loads of time to get ready lol, i watched a whole season of family guy right before i went in.

  8. Most hosiptals cant keep you until you are 4 centimeters, so just take your time and get showered and all ready. Plus if they are not real contractions and are just the braxton hicks then the shower will/may make them go away.  But no with both my girls I waited and got ready.

  9. my water broke and it took like 45 mins to start contracting mildly

then it took 3 hrs for the whole labor

    good luck
