When you summon dark magician of chaos how do you know his effect activates?

Example 1: I have magician in removed pile and play return from different dimension and opponent activates mystical space typhoon and destroys it.

Example 2: I have magician in removed pile and opponent activates mystical space typhoon and selects one of my magic or traps to destroy and activate return from the different dimension.

Do you know which one would let his effect activate and if so can you tell me?

I don't understand cause somewhere it said something about the effect doesn't activate in middle of chain.

They both do....  His effect activates after both cards resolve.

Thats why you can get D-Fusion back with his effect. Or monster reborn.
