When you switch to comcast for phone, internet and cable....are they allowed to cut your existing phone line?

i would think disconnecting them would be preferred. what if you want to go back to verizon for phone service? then new wires would have to be run.

  1. If you transferred your number then it will automatically be cut because you can't have a line without a number.


  2. If you mean physically cutting the wires, NO.  If they did, demand they get back out and fix them properly, or pay Verizon to do so.  They damaged private property, and they are legally liable for that damage.

  3. No, no utility company is allowed to "cut" another co's lines.  When you switch services the only thing that is allowed (and it has been agreed upon by all companies) is to move the existing wires (copper/coax) from the old utilities to new providers equipment.  If the lines are truly "CUT" that is a illegal action and should be reported to both companies.  The one that did the cutting could be fined and or sanctioned by the local PUC board.

  4. If you were to switch back to Verizon they would have to run a new Drop wire and any other wires needed to restore your service.

  5. they wouldnt "cut" the line, just discontinue the service to it if you wished to stop paying for it.
