Well, I have to take a polygraph and I am truly nervous. I would like to know if I passed the same day.

Basically, will they tell me before I leave the office?

Also, how do you mentally prepare for the polygraph?

I would also like to know if being nervous makes you fail a polygraph, because I would be so sad to fail, especially if I am telling the truth?

If by chance that you do fail, do they let you explain your disposition?

Also do anyone know the best book that I should buy to help me to study for my Civil Service Exam?

Also is it hard?

  1. I just took a polygraph last week for a job at my local Sheriffs Office.

After it was over, the detective (who administered the test) told me immediately that I passed.

  2. immediately

  3. After a week...

  4. You should get a "vibe" from the person administering the test.  If not - ask him how it looked - I did and he said fine.

Normally, formal notification will come from the agency that sent you - usually within a couple of weeks but it can be faster depending on how short of personel they are - or when the next academy opening is.  We usually find out a day or two later but it needs to go through personel, etc before you get word..  Good luck -

  5. I took mine and knew that day

Mine was for Dispatch at a Sheriff Department...2.5 hours.  I was sweating!!!...just relax and dont worry!!!!!
