When you take a "news vacation" for a day, do you feel disconnected, or happier?

Question

I took a vacation day today, and did not follow any news. I don't know whether I feel out of touch or happy that I didn't have to hear any of what passes for news?

What do you guys think?

I took a long vacation, but then I felt that if I didn't like the state of our country, I had no right to complain.  So I became more politically active.  But my friends who never read or watch the news claim to be much happier.  Ignorance is bliss, I guess.

Me, I want a better world for the next generation, including my kid.

I seldom watch the news and i'm happy.  I'm probably happy because i don't watch the news, the world is crazy.

I feel disconnected...I think I might need to be cut off from meda and news, gosh I find myself campaining with the candidates and ranting about oil and economy with friends that really have no clue what's even going on anyway...

And I'm 14 and I'll catch myself with 30 something people talking about economics and politics, when I catch myself, I'm just like, wait I should be outside playing or something...lol

If anyone needs to be cut off it's me...

You did the right thing by not switching on, as it was all the same depressing stuff. I shall follow your example and will not watch it for a week.All it is is wars, drugs, murders, knives etc. Never any good news to cheer us up. No more news for me now. Thanks.

Me,I feel disconnected.That's why I have two newspaper subscriptions.I spend so much time online or at my job that I never watch the news that much.Then newspapers come to the rescue.Oh,and sometimes I listen to talk radio.

I have to admit that I am a news junkie; and I would feel totally disconnected.  Even though, these days, the news is really, really bleak,  I just have to know what is going on outside of my own world !

It's not really news, it's propaganda. So I don't miss it at all.
