When you think about NYC, what comes to your mind?

Queens, Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn and Staten Island make up New York City or Manhattan is the city for you?

For me Manhattan is just another borough that makes up NYC like the rest.

I lived in NYC for 14 years in most of the boroughs - favorite area - East Village hands down - what comes to mind - Stombolli's Pizza on the corner of 8th and 1st - Odessa Diner on Ave A - H&H Bagels and honest of God Lox (been in CA for a decade and nobody here knows real lox - all you get is NOVA). Luna in Little Italy - any restaurant in China Town (pork dumplings and sesame cold noodles!!!!) - Indian Food on 6th Street between 1st and 2nd Aves - Coffee in the little dives around Cooper Union and the Theaters - hot dogs from any of the street vendors (disgusting I know but sooo good - especially with grilled onions) and the knishes too - Patrami sandwiches from Kahns downtown and Cherry Lime Rickies!!!! - Chopped Chicken Liver from the Cornicopia Deli on the Upper East Side. Okay I'll stop - it's late and I'm making myself very hungry for things I can't have right now.

QUEENS!!!!! Of course, since I live in NYC, i think the city is all the 5 boroughs.

I love the city.  I've been around here all my life and watched it go from the run down grunge pit it was to what, in my opinion, is the best place in the world to live.  i would say the best thing about NYC is NYC itself.

But if I had to pick one thing it would be the way the meat packing district went from a place you always went to with a friend to the present day upscale hip joint it is.
