I live near detriot, so stop the harsh comments. please.

I live in a city, a suburb of Detroit, called Troy, Michigan. It has a wonderful school district, and the 3rd nicest mall in the world-Somerset Collection.

  1. The car capitol of the world.  They got fat and lazy in the seventies and let the foreign car makers take over but they have made a great comeback and are now building some of the best cars in the world again!

Also - I think of Lions.  The Detroit Lions are one of the oldest NFL teams and have a very storied past!

  2. The rioting in the city after the Tigers and Pistons win championships..../

  3. the "murder capital of the world" t-shirts they used to sell on corner markets when I was younger.

Edit:  I grew up in south east Michigan.  This is really what I think of when I hear 'Detroit'.  I suspect that was long before your time, but they sold those shirts for years.  If you only wanted rainbows and puppydog answers, you shouldn't have asked the question.

  4. A great cultural center... beautiful architecture... Greektown and Mexicantown!

  5. Casinos, Eminem, car manufacturing plants (that aren’t doing well) and are run down, a great zoo (which is actually outside of Detroit in Royal Oak- which btw is a great area/community), crime, abandoned properties, good variety of ethnic food / restaurants.

  6. wonderful people
