When you throw a ball up in the air, is there a word for the point in time when it stops and for a split second it's just suspended in motion before it comes back down?

  1. retardation

  2. It is stationary at only one instant.  This is not a finite length of time (even less than a split second) But I know what you meant so ill stop being picky.

There are many words you could use to describe that point.  for example:  Maximum, apogee, stationary point, zenith.

It has nothing to do with Terminal Velocity.

  3. The Zenith I think....

  4. terminal velocity

  5. static?

  6. you could refer to it reaching the vertex of its path.

    just a thought

  7. There is no particular word for the point in time, but the highest point in space is called the zenith.

  8. that is the period of waitlessness, and it is called zero G
