Do you remember what type of driving techniques you were told to do on your test before getting your driver's license? Like parallel parking, going in reverse straight for 20 feet, etc?

I am taking my driver's test soon, so I would like to know what to expect and how long the test will be. Please share your experience.

  1. I drove the checker to a store to buy his cigarettes.  I didn't tell anyone until now so I passed.

  2. I had to drive through a neighbourhood, parallel park, make a 3-point turn, and park on a hill if a remember correctly.  It's been a few years though...

  3. The test varies, depending on where you live.  If you take a driver's ed. class, you will learn what you need to know for the test.  If not, contact your DMV, and ask them what is required.  In Oregon, where I took my test, parallel parking is not tested.  In Idaho, where my son is learning, it is also not required.  Good luck!

  4. My drivers test wasn't even 10 minutes long.

We pulled out of the DMV and made a loop around the block. I then had to curbside park, after that we pulled back onto the road, drove back to the DMV and I had to back into the parking space.

  5. I think a lot of it will depend on where you live.  I took my test in a rural town in NC, so we didn't have to do any type of parallel parking. Pretty much i just had to back out of a spot, drive around the block and on a mian road, and get back and park the car. If you live in a more crowded city, i might expect other things like parallel parking or driving in busy traffic.

  6. All I had to do was drive around the block ONE time to the left (pretty easy) and I had to drive through some cones and I had to "mock" parallel park.
