We renewed the registration on our car on Feb 14. and July 14 we turned in the plates and cancelled the registration. My question is are we intitled to a refund for the months that was paid for? August-Feb. 2009?

  1. In Iowa if your license is less than 6 months old you get one half your money back.

  2. That depends on your state. Here, in MD, our plates are for two years and I think that if you turn them in with over a year left they reimburse for the year. However, if you have 11months and 29 days left you get nothing.

  3. of course not

  4. not likely.

  5. In all the states I've lived in, no.  What makes matters worse, is most states expect you to transfer your tags and insurance within 30 days of moving to the new state.
