  6. From the wiki article.

White sage is considered sacred by many Native Americans since it is used to make smudge sticks, a type of incense. White sage is believed to cleanse a space of any evil spirits that may be present. This power is said to be released from the plant by the burning of the leaves, which are typically bundled into a wand or stick.

Wonder if it was originally thought to have practical uses as an air freshener or to discourage vermin.

  7. I hate sage.

  8. When you smudge with sage you do burn the sage (it smells kind of like pot but it doesn't smoke as well 333) and use the smoke to purify the different directions in the house or building. You also use the ashes and literally smudge a small section of wall/door/window in the rooms of he house/building. It is kind of like Ash Wednesday for Catholics but with buildings.

Depending on what other beliefs you have is where you smudge. For example in Feng Shui homes have money corners, relationship corners, etc. and you want those pure and sacred.

FYI: Sage was originally burnt in part because it kept away insects and this caused fewer people to get bitten, infected, and die and so it started being used and associated with healing rituals.

  9. I think you just burn it. Just be careful don'[t burn the house down. Ya know I think  Salt works too spread salt around the entire outside of the house
