When you waitress how do you take care of all the <span title="customers,dishes,restrooms">customers,dishes,restroom...</span> clean up all alone? pleaz?

I just started waitressing in a medium size resturant and I am overwhelmed. I have been a stay at home mom for 8 years and I really wanted this job more for pleasure. The boss only wants one waitress on nights, all tables are full of customers. We are responsible for everything a waitress does but also washing the dishes and taking care of the clean dishes at that. The place closes at 8 pm and she wants all task done by that time. I need help with a routine so I can become a better waitress and not stress so much.

Being that you are the only server on, and the restaurant is full, I don&#039;t see how you would have any extra time to be cleaning restrooms and dishes, and still have time to take care of your customers.  Your number one priority should be the paying customer.  With a full restaurant, there should be an actual dishwasher on the shift taking care of the dishes.  

  I would look for another job promptly.  Your boss is trying to save money on payroll. Does she make you split your tips with her as well?  Is she paying you the wages of three employees?   If she thinks one person is capable of performing the tasks of numerous employees, she should try doing it herself!  I sure hope you find a new job, and tell this slavedriver where to go!  She is definitely taking advantage of you.

Well your boss sounds cheap!!.. they should be more concernced with you making your tables happy first than sidework!  Honestly its not an easy job for most people.. there is a lot of multi tasking involved... I promise after you get into the swing of it you will find your own routine and make it work for you... I would look for another job though... you shouldnt be washing dishes... serving can be fun but u are in a bad environment...

You are all that you can be.... Why doesn&#039;t the cook and the boss help so everything can be done by 8pm.You are an employee -NOT A SLAVE!! If it is too much and too stressful ..get another job!

Are you saying that you only waitress, buss and wash the dishes, clean the restroom, and close the place down all by yourself?  Why in the heck aren&#039;t you doing the cooking and being the cashier too?!  What&#039;s wrong with you!  

Seriously, your boss has some very unreasonable expectations.  I&#039;d find a better place to work...with more employees.

well, i&#039;m a bus boy/dish washer so i kind of know where you&#039;re coming from.  The way you describe it, it sounds different.  Why would only 1 waitress do a job that takes 3-4 people depending on the night.  Ask your boss to get a bus boy or allow another waitress to work.

I can&#039;t help you much beyond that seeing as how i don&#039;t know how it looks, whats easiest etc.  Maybe if u provided more info people could be of more help.

This is not the kind of job you get &quot;more for pleasure&quot;. This is a stressful, hard and unhappy kind of job. Find another restaurant. That is ridiculous! You are doing way to much. I used to waitress and I NEVER did the dishes or restrooms. Craziness
