Question:

When you wash a load of whites (w/ bleach), is your next load likely to get bleach spots?

I don't think I ever had this happen to me, but I'm washing my new sheets right after washing whites (I had nothing else I could wash in between) and I'm panicking hoping they don't come out bleached! I did get bleach all over myself from the last load and I have marvelous bleach marks on my clothes (Yes, I have another question about this). So what's the fate of that second load? I didn't put bleach in the dispenser for that load, just the first. Will the rinse cycle rinse it all away?

  1. you should be fine, the rinse cycle from the bleached load should have removed the residual bleach that could harm the next load. Also, even if some bleach was left most sheets are colorfast. Meaning that they are dyed with a permanent dye unlike that found in t-shirts etc. I bleach my sheets from time to time just to sanitize them.

  2. The rinse cycle should get of any lingering traces of bleach in the washer.  But if you're concerned about your new sheets, you could have the washer do one extra rinse cycle to make sure the bleach is **completely** gone.

Also, if you're getting bleach marks on your clothes from having touched your just-washed whites, you're using too much bleach.  Use less and see how it goes (that should also help with your new sheets).

  3. it shouldn't unless you spill some on the top of the washer...

  4. If you're afraid of getting bleach spots on your second load of clothes

after you put some bleach in your first load, my suggestion would be

that you give that load a second rinse cycle before you put in another

    load in the washer.
