  1. Sure but I wonder all the time what they look like.  All I was and am able to find out was that my biological father is a mechanic and my mother is a Swedish immigrant.  I really didn't have much to go on so my imagination usually took over.

  2. No.  I figured they were just regular people like most of us.  I was right.  My first mother had been a housewife most of her life.  My first father is a contractor.

  3. I wondered sometimes.  I knew my mom had been involved in acting, so I sometimes wondered if she had become a famous actress.  She hadn't.  And that was okay.  :)

  4. nope.

I did try to convince myself that my mom was a mermaid as a kid, but I grew out of that one after awhile :)

  5. There is a rumor in my family that I was born to a young woman who had an affair with a  Washington politician and was sent to a "home for unwed mothers" in the sixties.  This has always led to good natured speculation by my family and friends.  Teddy Kennedy?  Richard Nixon?

We have some good laughs about it. Considering my current leanings we usually choose a Democrat, but since my entire adopted family are Republicans they love the idea that perhaps a Republican was my dad.

I'm, of course, pretty aware that this was all made up but, hey, that's life for an adoptee. This is why it is important that adoptees have answers because, if they don't, they and everyone around them tend to  just "fill in the blanks" to suit themselves.  It can be fun, and sometimes it can be a drag.

  6. i always assumed my mother was a famous actor, a princess or a doctor.

  7. I didn't.

But my adopted friend as a kid thought Cher was her mother.  And an adopted friend I knew as an adult thought Peggy Fleming was her mother.

  8. Amongst other things.

It's natural for a child to have fantasies when they are having to grow up in the dark as to where and who they came from.

Secret adoption is never in the best interest of a child.

Im sure this girl was surprised. They both were looking and she found her mother over the internet.

  10. Nope! I always thought they were smart like me or maybe successful, but never famous! That's just silly dreaming! But I did think of them from time to time and thought they were probably smart and accomplished later on in life. I thought they might have been poor early on which is why they gave me up! Young and poor!

  11. LOL..well..I fantasized that my father was Jim Morrison.
