  1. I went kicking and screaming, figuratively, but crying definitely. Thought my mom was sending me away for good.

  2. I dreaded having to go back. I hated school with a passion.

  3. I loved going to school so first day was something I looked forward to with great excitement.

I loved everything about it. New uniforms, new shoes, all the pens, pencils, books etc. Putting names on things, covering books and then placing them in a nice new school bag.

Then when you got there I was all eager to go off and find which classroom was mine and who was my new teacher and was there any kids from my old class there.

BEST of all was learning new things that I never knew before.

I'm still exactly the same at 51 and I still go to school and learn new things.

Now I'm at University studying for my Bachelor of Asian Studies Degree with a second Major in History. I just LOVE to learn.

  4. since it got me out of chores  around the farm i look at it like a vacation!!!

  5. i usually worked most of the summer and got a new pair of jeans at the start of school. so i sort of liked it

  6. I loved it--just the 1st day!

ps--I love your avatar (former breeder of St Bernard's)

    ♥♥♥

  7. Well, mine was a one-room school and I already had siblings attending, so it made it much easier.  I do remember that classroom of 35 children from age 5 to 12 in one big room.  My, how things have changed!

  8. A little of both. Where I first went to school it was small. So two grades were in the same room .1st and 2nd etc . When you got through 6th grade (my brother graduated with 5 or 6 in his class)then you went to the bigger school of the district . Then the small school was closed and we were all shipped to another part of the county. That first day I was really scared. To go from 5or 6 classmates to 20.I think the hardest part was the bus ride. From 10 mins to 40min.But I survived & still look back with fond memories to that little school where everybody knoew everybody.

  9. I loved it!

  10. I go along with a little bit of both. It was great to get back with friends and classmates you didn't see over the summer, but there was always the worry that you were going to have the teacher from h**l and that it was going to be a very long year!

  11. The excitement of a new box of crayons that still had points, a new tablet and erasers on pencils and new clothes (out of layaway at last), new teacher, to meet friends again, new blisters on heels from new shoes. - The memories do come back. All the neighborhood kids walked to school toegether on the first day. The times have changed, but my grandchildren are just as excited as I was.

  12. Hated school near all my life,I knew it was required but I was a sickly kid and my Mom would bring home my school work so I never was behind a grade.

She was also overprotective so I never had any friends for more than a few months.  School is about social adjustments than learning anyways. I learned more at home than I did at school. It was quieter and I read a lot during my recovery times.

My family is social but I prefer to be home I can do a lot from home and family is more important than acquaintances and

    'fair weather' friends.

  13. I looked forward to both the first day of school and the last day of school with anticipation.

  14. I couldn't wait.  Summer was so boring. Maybe because I did very well in school.  High school, that is, college was more challenging, but still exciting and fun to do.

  15. I looked forward to every day of school with apprehension.

  16. I hated it in grammar school.   In high school I was anxious for school to start to be with all my friends.

  17. sheer terror, which is odd because i was also on honor roll

  18. The first day of school was the best day of the year. You got all new teachers, met up with your old friends, made new friends, had a new schedule, all new, exciting classes. Then, the second day........

Well, nothing that good lasts forever!

  19. I did not like going to school.  I dreaded that first day of school.  I suffered through that first day with the new teacher or teachers just waiting for my first dose of punishment.  Even now at this ripe old age I can feel the sweat popping out on my forehead when I think of my school days.  Now summer vacation, that was what I looked forward to with anticipation.  I survived the school year by day dreaming of summer time.  Yep, got in trouble for day dreaming instead of paying attention in class.  I made good grades and was on the honor roll.  More of that Fear Factor there?  I'm very glad my school days were over long ago.

  20. A little of both, but mostly anticipation.

  21. I had such a hard time in school i hated it .But it was great being around my friends.

  22. Anticipation!

  23. I Loved School.  Always looked forward to it and a new homemade dress and it was so much fun!  The good old days!

  24. Apprehension.
