I went on an interview with a HUGE COMPANY, on August 1st and then they did my background check and work history check, school check etc just to verify dates of employment & graduations etc. Well i got called back for a second interview tomorrow and I am super nervous. Is this a good sign or a bad sign? I honestly don't know what to think. The hiring process is taking a long time, longer then any other job I have ever had. What should i expect on this second interview? My first interview was about an hour and a half and i met with 4 people and this one she said i will be meeting with one person and it should be about 30 minutes long. How can i sell myself to her & let her know to choose me because I am perfect for the job. It seemed like all the other managers liked me.

  1. a 2nd interview means they have short-listed you as one of their favourites. this is a good sign!

with your interview you should seem relaxed, well presented, GENUINE.

have a few things ready to say like why they should you employ you rather than someone else, why you want the job. employers like to have happy workers generally because they are easier to get on with, so dont get too nervous!

  2. It's a good sign.  Do some research on the company.  Integrate facts about the company and issues you know are important to them into your conversation.  Illustrate how you would fit into the environment.  It's not just academic skills these days, it's very important to a company that the person they hire will fit into the corporate environment and staff already on board.  Good luck!  (retired IBM exec mgr/college prof)

  3. It's a good sign to be called. They've narrowed the candidates down and are looking at you as a potential hire out of the larger list.

The 2nd interview will 'appear' more relaxed, but it is actually quite important. Sorry, don't mean to make you nervous. If you haven't done so already, research the company and the different program outside of the position you are applying for. This will allow them to see that you care enough to find out more about the position and the people you work with. Ask questions about management styles (hands on, hands off), about what they look for in a candidate, ask if there is room to cross train and learn different areas in the agency.

Essentially, let them know you are interested and are willing to take on not only the job applying for, but also anything they may throw at you.

    Good luck!

  4. Congrats  its a good sign . Let her know what you can bring to the company  and that you would make a great fit . Also  interview them as well  its somthing thats always worked for me . I like to ask what they like most about there job and the least they like about it. hope this helps good luck..

  5. Thats great! I wish I was so lucky. Its gonna be tough because they like all the other people who made it to the second interview too! Just be confident and demonstrate how you will be an asset to their company.

  6. YOU NEED TO COME UP WITH THE BEST REASONS POSSIBLE WHY YOU SHOULD HAVE THE JOB. MOST PEOPLE WOULD GO TO INTERVIEWS AND SAY USUALLY THE SAME THING ABOUT WHY THEY WOULD BE RIGHT FOR THE JOB LIKE THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE AND ON TIME ETC. IF THE COMPANY IS A BIG AS YOU SAY IT IS YOU SHOULD JUST JOT DOWN SOME REALLY GOOD REASONS OF WHY YOU SHOULD GET THE JOB AND TRY NOT TO USE THE LINES THAT EVERYBODY ELSE USE. YOU HAVE TO MAKE THE INTERVIEWER ENVISION YOU IN THE JOB POSITION THAT YOU ARE GOING IN FOR. EVEN IF YOU ARE NERVOUS TRY YOUR HARDEST TO SEEM HAPPY ABOUT THE INTERVIEW AND TRY TO SMILE EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, BECAUSE FACE IT NO ONE WANTS SOMEONE WHO IS DOWN. I'M SURE YOU WILL GET THE JOB IF YOU GO INTO THE INTERVIEW WITH HIGH SPIRITS.
