When your child is attacked by another child...what do you do?

My 9 yr old told me that he was playing football with a group of boys and he was standing "off sides" talking to a friend. He wasn't paying attention to the game, and another boy out of frustration pushed him. My son kicked him back. Then the boy tackled him to the ground jabbing his finger into the inside of my child's mouth really hard. My son threw him down and got on him and punched him a couple of times in the stomach and chest. Then got up and told him to back off. That boy left. And another boy (the first boy's friend) than pushed my son and they had a fight which ended in the other boy being thrown on the ground. Then the bell rang and they went inside. No teachers saw any of this! So my son told me about the whole thing after I picked him up from school.. and I looked inside his mouth and it was bleeding. What do I do now? I don't want my children to fight, but neither do I want them to be bullied. Do I call the school? Or would that cause more trouble?

  1. WELL ME PERSONALLY, I AM ONE OF THOSE LOW TOLERANCE PARENTS THAT DON'T PLAY THE WHOLE BULLYING THING WITH MY KIDS SO I WOULD PROBABLY BE READY TO BEAT UP THE KID AND BE LOOKING FOR THE PARENTS! BUT FOR YOU, CALL AND SET UP A MEETING WITH THE CHILDREN AND PARENTS AND PRINCIPAL OR WHOMEVER, AND IF THAT DOESN'T SOLVE ANYTHING, THEY LET YOUR KID DEFEND HIMSELF! GOOD LUCK!

  2. no, u should def. call the school and let them know about what happened(the whole story) so the principal-or teacher can have a "talk" with the other guys and ur kid as well- so that wont happen again.

  3. Please!! I would storm the d**n school as if I was on a war path!! Let those people know you mean business and this need to be taken care of. Kids are going to fight, but if this happened at school then where were the teachers?! Teachers are so busy asking where the parents are!! Absolutely ridiculous!

My mom had to storm my school to get there attention after I had endured some beatings from classmates. Needless to say, it never happened to me again and the principal feared my mother. Protect your cub...

  4. Unless someone saw it they would both be punished for it.

  5. you really should call the school let them know about it this time but if it keeps happening you might have to start ignoreing it because some kids just like to fight but i dont know you son so i dont know if he is the real truthful kind or the kind that lies a litle bit

  6. id tell my son to kick the other kid's ***.  i think ur son did a great job handling the whole situation.

  7. be prepared that he will get in trouble as he retaliated. But let him know that you are glad he took of himself. Tell them what you are focusing on so much is not the fight but the lack of supervision. But the thing is, kids are sneaky, they know to wait till the teacher is gone to start something.

  8. This happened to my 9 yr old son at flag football practice...after practice the players started to play tackle football when my son tackled another player that player punched him repeatedly in the stomach.  My son ended up vomiting and rolling around on the ground.  All of this right in front of the coaches and other parents.  It seems these days that people just think this it is "okay" for boys to play around like this.

In your situation where in the world were the teachers?  Are you telling me that they were 9 yr olds (approx 3rd graders) playing football unsupervised while at school?  That could be dangerous for various reasons, including fights breaking out as in your son's case.  As a somewhat overprotective parent you better believe I would march right into that school and demand some answers.  Where were the teachers?  I would also talk to my son about talking to a school employee the next time something like this happens.  I wouldn't think twice about causing more problems at the school-this is not appropriate behavior for school.  What if something more serious had happened (or happened next time).  This kind of behavior has to be stopped at once...my son's school has a no bullying policy and these children would be in big trouble.  I think there needs to be more supervision outdoors as well whether it is the classroom teacher or a PE teacher.  Please report this immediately...it is a major issue that needs to be addressed!

    Good luck.

  9. Get the dad bring him to the boy, (:D) trust me, it will take care of itself! :):):):):):):):) DADDDY TO THE RESCUE!

  10. I would start by calling the school first and getting the whole story because that does not even sound truthful to me.
